I use Cal, alk, and mag that come in jugs. Other than looks, is there a reason I should buy dosing containers? Currently I just drop the tubing through the open top of the jugs and call it good.

the apex ddr will send an alert when the solutions are getting low but otherwise purely aesthetic.

The other benefit typically is the container straw. Using a generic container forces you to be a bit more creative in order to pull fluid all the way at the bottom.

Having something transparent is a nice. If you dose something equal like Triton, seeing all four levels match is a nice backup that something didn't happen to one pump or one line. While you have monitors on how empty they are, actually seeing the level is nice.
