So earlier this week my Achilles tang started showing signs of ich and then I noticed a couple spots on his fins and body. So I obviously set up a quarantine tank and moved all my fish into late last night. Going to start copper power today but not sure how much I should dose and how many days I should ramp the dosage up… it’s a 40 breeder with two hob filters and a couple rocks that I had in my sump so the qt would be instantly cycled. Just need to know what y’all think. The Achilles and other tangs are still eating, swimming normally, and breathing normally. Thanks!

Therapeutic level is 2.25-2.5 for a full 30 days at 80.5 degrees . Leave the display tank fishless for 45-60 days at 81 degrees
To determine your therapeutic level, you will need to monitor readings with a reliable copper test kit and no api brand either

Since your fish already have spots and could be in distress, no sense in a slow ramp up.

I'd go ahead a dose full strength right off the bat, or over a single day at the most.

To get to 2.5 PPM with copper power it takes about 1.5 ML per gallon.

So;
1.5 ML per gallon
3 ML per 2 gallons
30ML per 20 gallons
60 ML per 40 gallons

will get you pretty close to 2.5ppm.
Hanna copper checker works great.

As noted above. Its actually 1.48ml per gallon, but I just round it to 1.5ml to make things easier.

The Hanna copper checker is definitely worth having when QTing fish with copper.

Save yourself some money and just buy the hannah tester from the start.

Or be like me and waste money on 2 other tests that you can't read the results on.

I have the Hanna checker, in the past, I wasted so much money of test kits that did absolutely nothing hahaha

Is therapeutic level 2.25 - 2.5

I use this calculator and it helps tremendously. Just have to sometimes convert mL to once since I'm dosing a large volume on my end.

I personally ramp up to 1.75 or 2.0 ppm right away within a day with 2-3 doses spread apart and then up to 2.25 the next few days.

I have also dropped in fishes into copper with ot was already 2.0 to 2.25 with no ill effects either.
