Wondering if there is a downside to cultivating diatoms and dosing the tank like one would do for other phytoplankton? I think it would provide food for copepods and snails and provide desirable competition to non desirable stuff like dinos. I have heard of people dosing silicate to fight dinos and think cultivating diatoms and dumping it in the tank may get them to higher diatom populations quicker?

Any major objections other than cosmetic?

Might try an experiment with Thalassiosira...

I personally would not but if you’re conducting experiment, keep us posted
