Dosing food throughout the day

I was reading up on fish behavior and heard an episode of ReefThreads. The idea of slowly feeding your tank throughout the day to induce the natural feeding behavior of fish sounded very intriguing.

Has anyone done this with Dosing pumps or other methods of slowly adding food throughout the day so fish are not trained to expect food whenever a human feeds it to them?

Many folks use an auto fish feeder to feed dry food throughout the day, then maybe some frozen in the evenings.

Can you use a dosing pump to drip in rotifers, and small part food?
