Hi All -

I have been in this hobby for around 2 years now, for the past 8 months i have a new 105 gallon tank with mixed corals. I am dosing reef fusion part 1 and part 2 with good success on the corals, but my tangs keep dying. I never had this problem before. My older system had some corals, but i never dosed, none of tangs ever died, i had to give them away eventually because of growth / size limitations.

I initially lost a 2 inch small yellow tang around 5 months ago in this new system, then lost a couple of small 2 inch bristletooth tangs within a week of introducing them. Then i just lost my 3 inch purple tang that i had for the past 8 months. All my tangs have died. Rest of my fish are fine, like 2 pairs of small clownfish, 3 firefish. All my water parameters are good and i feed the tangs all normal tang food like nori etc.

Does anyone know if dosing has anything to do with my tangs dying?

Hi

Never used reef fusion part 1 and part 2 so I can not comment on it, but have you checked your parameters?
if it was me i would change what you use to dose to something else if you use to take tangs before you used reef fusion part 1 and part 2.

All my parameters are good, and corals are super healthy. If i switch to some other dosing company, i am afraid corals may not like it.

This is a bit of an odd one if your feeding the tangs correctly etc. Is there a possibility the fish are not particularly healthy were your getting them from ? Sometimes these things just happen but if it’s a constant issue maybe look change to a different supplier and see if that’s any better.

Or are you maybe creating any alkalinity issues with the Fusion part 2 ? It doesn’t look like it because your tank all looks very healthy with the corals, and they would soon react to this.

If your salinity and water parameters are all good, I would try a different LFS personally.
