So I've bought my first doser and am eager to get it going.

Have got sodium carbonate for kh, Calcium Chloride and Magnesium Chloride.

Have tried using various online calculators and think I know the maths to make the solutions. Reading around I think it's best to make the kh solution weak for many reasons so am going to make 5 litre with 75g per litre.

I have 80 litres tank volume.

My KH drops from 8 to 7.5 approx 0.5 a day.

Calcium drops from 420 to 410.

Mag from 1350 to 1330.

Please can someone give me the maths to make mag and calc solutions.

I found KH is 100g to a litre but can't find mag and calc ?

Also no idea how to work out what I must dose a day to keep parameters stated.

Please help thanks Nathan.

Have tried calculators but they don't give dosage only one time amount to add

Wouldn't that be the daily dosage amount since you know your tanks consumption rate?

Try to see if Randy can help you with this one, he is the chemical genius in the reefing world!
:D

I would start off with adding 20ml a day on all 3. Then test again, if you are still taking up more than you are putting in add 10ml to the 20 for 30ml and so on. I had to do the same thing with the Aquaforest balling method I am doing with my first Doser. Have only had the Bubble Magus doser for 1.5 months and already up from 50ml a day to 100ml a day. What I love is the doser can put the equal amount every hour for 24 hours. Has definitely made my life a lot easier.

Yes I am eager to get going just a bit scared lol because my tank is sweet at moment but having a long holiday soon so need to set up doser.

So did you make 5 litres of each solution could you give me ratios ?

I know it's 100g per litre for bicarbonate

I use the Component 1+,2+,3+. So everything is already mixed and in 5L jugs. I use 1.5L in my dosing containers and it lasts for a little over 2 weeks. When I start using a lot more then I will start mixing my own, since I heard it is cheaper.

Yeah I looked into liquid products but as most of the bottles of ready made liquids need shaking I didn't think that would work and also much more expensive than 'balling tight'

I have food grade sodium carbonate and Royal Nature branded mag and calc powder
