Dosing issues

Just wanted to post to warn people to make sure you don't rely strictly on what your dosing software tells you regarding your dosing amounts. Several times now my Apex DOS appeared to be dosing normally. Apex Fusion showed my ALK and Ca amounts being dosed daily. Indicator lights were all normal on my Dos and the Dos heads even sounded like they were dosing correctly. Turns out the Ca head stopped working for about 2 weeks (I rarely check Ca). My Ca got under 150.....coral stopped growing which in turn spiked my ALK resulting in the loss of several SPS. I had to unplug the DOS to get it running correctly. I now make it a habit of hitting the manual dosing button on both heads once a day to make sure they are working properly. If this happens during my AWCs on my other DOS, I could be in trouble lol.

sorry about your loss.

i use the BRS dosing pumps but i still worry about failures like this. i like to test the big three weekly to stay on top of it all, takes 5 minutes and is worth the peace of mind
