Recently I started a nano reef build, and was wondering if I should be mixing my kalkwasser while topping off? Usually this is a no brainer for me, but I'm wondering if I should be adding a small amount while I'm cycling.

The tank itself is nano at 9.6 gallons so it wouldn't be too hard to get the levels where I want them when I start to add my corals.

Am I overthinking this? Thoughts?....

First, there's no need to add anything while cycling
Second, don't add any corals until cycling is over, add a few small basic, cheap fish, 2-3 blue/green Chromis will due. Also, add Day/Night everyday to create bacteria with your fish to create the cycling.
Thirdly, WC's will take care of all your needs as far as parameters. Watch for the rise and fall of Amonium, then Nitrite, then Nitrate. Wait at least a year for your tank to mature before adding expensive corals

Absolutely =) as ammonia is processed down to nitrate, it will slowly drop your alk level. Not that kalk is needed during a cycle, you may be better off just starting it now at a low saturation. Can help with ph swings, promote some coralline ect..
