Dosing kalkwasser

I was thinking about dosing kalkwasser through my auto top off system and I was wondering what your experiences were with kalkwasser and/or what you think of kalkwasser.

I used to use kalk in my ato but stopped because it was a pain. It’s hard on the ato pump and the pump used to fall into the sludge at the bottom. IMO it would make more sense to dose it separately unless you have a huge demand. My tanks are small so maybe someone with a bigger system can chime in.

I love kalk iv used it for years. I still use kalk even with my calcium reactor I use it just to boost the ph and pretty easy to use . I just use the 5 gal water jugs I mix the kalk I use the screw top and took out the plug and add a valve mix it turn valve to settle out for a couple hours and 5 gal on my 180 system last me 2 weeks .

It was all I used on my mixed reef for 20 years. Just make sure it is added slowly enough and you only dose enough to maintain alkalinity at your target.

I might just dose ph and alkalinity separately and then when I start to get more coral I might change to kalkwasser
