Dosing KH

Can I dose Red Sea Foundation B (kh) without CAL or MAG?. My ALK is extremely low. CAL and MAG are within acceptable ranges. Any help would e greatly appreciated!
(no experience with redsea foundation) id say yes add what you need, you could also use sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate as a cheaper more diluted alternative to adjust your alkalinity levels. then proceed with redsea's products as they instruct. imo

Yeah you can do that but as Alk goes up I think CA will drop.

what makes you say that?

if you continue to dose the correct amount of calcium and alkalinity required for your tanks consumption, you are able to adjust alkalinity levels without lowering calcium because of the added alkalinity adjustment.

It sounded like OP wanted to dose only Alk and didn’t mention if they had calcium in acceptable range due to dosing I only assumed they weren’t dosing. My bad!

you may be right I've read the o.p a few times now, I guess I just assumed they were dosing calcium and magnesium to maintain "acceptable ranges"

so I guess some clarification on dosing amounts and levels would be needed but either way you can adjust alkalinity, and yes I guess calcium would inherently go down if you are not dosing it and only dosing alkalinity solution.

my bad ;)
