So I thought I had an issue with a lack of NO3 in my tank. Bought some "Aquarium Grade KNO3" from an online vendor. Only to mix up enough that should have raised my NO3 to 10ppm, then to read zero in my API test kit. So I proceeded to retest with a tsp of the KNO3 directly into the API test vial, then top off with RODI water, to have the test still show 0ppm. There is no dosing instructions on the aquarium grade kno3, it is listed as 100%. At this point I am either thinking that my test kit cant see the NO3 in the KNO3 solution or that the product is not KNO3.
Used 10 grams mixed with RODI. Tested 30min after addition.
This is the product in question: http://greenleafaquariums.com/aquarium-fertilizers-supplements/potassium-nitrate.html
Will KNO3 show up in the API Nitrate test?
