Hey all, I have a BRS 1.1mL doser that is currently dosing 3.2mLs total per day of Tropic Marin All For Reef split into 4 doses ( 0.8mL every 6 hours). The problem i am having is the dosing line clogs daily with precipitate (i assume thats what it is) and i have to unclog it daily. The dosing line is routed to dose into the rear chamber of my Innovative Marine 20 Gallon Nuvo and the line is above the water by about 2 inches. There are no micro bubbles in the back that could be splashing up either. does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to stop the line from clogging?

Is it dosing into the return chamber? Do you ever turn off the return pump for feeding or maintenance? When I ran a BioCube 29, my Alk line would clog because whenever I killed the return pump for maintenance or feeding, the water level would rise in the return chamber submerging the dosing lines until I turned my return pump back on.

This isn't uncommon when dosing highly concentrated additives. I used to get this when I was mixing my own alk with baking soda at max concentration in the water.

Cut your all for reef half and half with RODI water, and double the dosing amounts on the doser. Same dose, less crust!

It’s dosing into the chamber left of the return section. I made sure the line wasn’t submerged at any point during the time when the return pump is off as I do a feed mode daily which turns the return off.

I’ll give that a try! I didn’t know that was a possibility!

I'm having this exact same problem with dosing All-For Reef in the rear chamber of a Nuvo 20. I get precipitate at the end of the dosing line even though the tank water never touches it.

Did diluting the All-For-Reef work for you?

Funny thing I saw someone mention one time long ago and I have been doing it for years now to keep that line clean.....

Get an airline T, put your ATO line on one side, then your ALK line on the other, then point the other into your tank. Every time the ATO turns on, it cleans the line and you do not get the hard crystals clogging the ALK line anymore.

this is exactly what worked for me. I had sent an email to Lou @ Tropic Marin and he suggested to get a Y fitting so one side has my ATO line and the other has my All for reef (which is not diluted at all) and then they both come out of the bottom of the Y fitting so every time the ATO kicks on, it flushes the fitting. I have not had any problems since doing this and it’s pretty much zero maintenance now

Thank you both for the advice about connecting it to the ATO line. I'll give that a try.

Im having this issue as well. My ato line is 1/4in rodi and my dosing line is airline tubing (using kamoer x1 pro). Is there a Y fitting that could suit my situation? Also how do you stop you all for reef from flowing into you ato line?

I wound up diluting the All-For-Reef fifty percent with RODI and have not had a problem with it for the past month.

So is mine. Regular airline T fitting will work. I use the bottom of the T for the ALK line so the RO/DI flows straight, but the ALK has to travel up(against gravity which won't happen) to get into the RO/DI line. Set the T on it's side, Alk on the side, RO/DI on top, and bottom goes into the tank.

If that makes any sense to you?

Yes that makes sense. Ill get a Y fitting and test it out. Will update after its going for a few days

Did this work out for you mate? Having the same consideration here while dosing All-for-Reef and using a Kamoer X1.

Any downside to diluting the All-for-Reef solution? Risk of contamination?

Hey there. I have a rather naïve question. When using a T as suggested here, would some of the RODI water and alk mix upstream of the T? In other words, when one pump turns on, does pressure have the fluid simply go out the T... or could the mixing of fluids be a problem over the long run? (I.e., RODI water going into the dosing line).

Maybe a Y fitting is best?

I use randys DIY 2 part which is baking soda and RO/DI. So not sure how any extra RO/DI is going to impact the dosing line with any other product.

What if the ATO goes at the same time as the alk dosing?

I am dealing with the same issue with AFR, and was with Red Sea Alk as well. I think it is making determining the correct dose very difficult as I am never really sure if the full dose has been added. Has anyone run their AFR or Alk through the Neptune ATK? In other words the dosing would come out of the same "spout" as the RODI? The reason I ask is because that would ensure that the ATK float backup still functions for RODI (which has saved more multiple times from a siphon overflow).

The AFR line will be full of fluid under positive pressure(the dosing head doesn't allow anything to enter the line as it applies constant pressure. Same reason dosing lines don't siphon).

While I've never used the ATK, don't think it would be any issue.
