Dosing mag help!!

Hey my mag is around i would say 1200.......i use the brightwell aquatics magnesium recommended is 10ml per 20 gallons.....i have a 46 with a 14 gallon fuge....... yesterday i dosed about 25ml.........Is it safe to correct magnesium immediately up to 1300 going past the manufactureres recommended dosing...........

I was planning to do 25ml every 12 hours.....instead of 24

Yeah - you'll be fine.
Alk is one that you want to do slowly. Calcium and Mag can go up quicker without any issues.

My 55g was 700-800ppm mag after years of operation and no mag testing.

I added literally 2 pounds of epsom salts. The next day mag was only up to about 1100 so I added another pound or two. Got it up to 1350 in two days. No ill effects.

technically i heard its 100ppm per day but i dosed like triple that over a few days and my mag went from like 700 to 1800 haha no problems

go ahead and dose the mag, you might see a reduction in calcium because mag increases the availability of calcium to the organisms in the tank.

Doesn't this depend on how you dose it? Kalkwasser should not be added quickly because it raises the pH, I believe, right?

Myself, I try not to raise mine more than 100 - 200ppm in a 24 hour period of time. I know people that just dump it in and have never had an issue. If I raise mine too fast I notice that the SPS are effected by it and then they recover within a week. Stability is the goal. So, if you can raise it over a couple of days then thats what I would do personally.

I agree. Reefs are very chemically stable environments. If you can do it over a couple days I would just to minimize any risk.

Calcium and Kalkwasser aren't the same things.
So yes, Kalkwasser could be added to the list of things you shouldn't add in huge amounts. But that isn't something most people "dose" ie. liquid like Magnesium, Calcium, Alkalinity, ect.
Kalkwasser is usually added through a Kalk stirrer, or a drip - It usually saturates the water and PH is at 12. I would never add Kalkwasser any other way.

Keep your mag around 1380-1440 all will be good
