I have a question as someone that’s new to dosing.
I took an Alk read 3 days ago and it was 9.0. Today my reading was 8.3 (3 days later). According to calculator it recommends to add 47ml of alk to bring it back to 9.0. So that also means I’m using just over 15ml per day.

what is the recommended way to get reading back to 9.0 in a reasonable time so I not shock any animals as well as set the 15ml for the daily dose to stabilize the Alk moving forward?

option 1) manual dose 47 ml and set dose pump to 15ml?

option 2) ?

I had a similar situation with alk when I started dosing which was only about a year ago so take this for what its worth but I was kind of chasing some numbers at the time and was using Brightwell alkalin8.3. Pouring in capfuls etc. I didn't have good results from dosing like that to chase the level I was after. I started using All for reef and dosed (2) times per day at 8ml each and after about a couple of months my dKh settled and stays in the 9 range consistently. Not sure what your mag or calcium levels are but I would try long term dosing a 2 part and get it to settle in slowly as that worked for me.

If you don't have sensitive corals yet, including Acropora, you could likely bolus dose the 47 mLs.

Another option would be to set your doser at a higher rate for a week or so, while testing every couple days. For example, dosing 22 mLs daily would take about a week to add the 47 mLs.

Personally, I would just dose the 15 mLs per day and leave the tank's dKH at 8.3 instead of 9.
