Since I was not very smart during cycling, I continued to dose ammonia, so at the end of my cycle, my nitrates were sky high.
Contacted various companies, and all said, you can do one large water change, but since I don't have that capability, I should dose something to lower the nitrates (ie: NO3: PO4-x).
Been doing it a week, and today is my first nitrate test, but when I went down to dose (6ml am, 6ml pm), I noticed 2 things. Wanted to find out if this is normal behavior for a tank.
1) I have a white fuzz type substance on my rockwork, easily scraped off
2) My pukani rock looks like it's turning pink.
Advice?
Thoughts?
I'm doing a 25 gallon water change either today or tomorrow (probably tomorrow). Learned my lesson in doing a water change too soon and not letting RC mix for 24 hours. Water was cloudy as hell.
