hello,
9g AIO, no skimmer(!)
I was wondering if it was good bas or useless to put just couple drop of no pox. Since no skimmer I would WC after one week. Is to help the bacteria and reduce nitrate mostly.
At the moment my ammonia is near zero but Nitrite is present.

Would this be beneficial for the next couple months or useless without benefice in long therm ?

Thank you

It is useless and will actually slow the speed of the nitrifying bacteria since it fuels competitions for phosphorus but can't be used by the cycling bacteria. Also, never use nopox without a skimmer as you can suffocate your fish.

I wouldn’t add Nopox, or anything else to the system, and certainly not while cycling, unless you’ve tested and found it’s needed. You also need a skimmer when using Nopox set to wet skim to remove suspended nutrients (mainly phosphate) from the system but as already said for oxygenation.

If once the tank is settled you have high nitrate, in a tank that size the easiest way to reduce nitrate is simple water changes

Try to avoid adding things to your tank where possible and you’ll likely have more success. I’d just do regular water changes for the first six months to a year. That’s all I do aside from run a protein skimmer for nutrient control and I have a large fish load & acropora. I don’t use nopox, carbon or any form of phosphate remover. It’s just not needed in most cases. IMO you’re getting way ahead of yourself and it’s going to make things MUCH harder. Keep it simple.
