My tank has an oversized algae scrubber for how much I am currently feeding, leading to phosphates being stripped to 0 (Hannah ULR) and nitrates slowly rising. I want to dose phosphates to add some but I anticipate this means more growth in the scrubber and more nitrates being removed as well. Is this correct? Should I also purchase nitrate dosing supplements?

Phosphate is absorbed around 1 part to 30 parts nitrate if I remember correctly for the algae scrubbers produce. It would only take the tinest amount of phosphate to increase that nitrate uptake. I would start low and go for it.

If you are keeping corals, having a 0 phosphate is not great.

Thanks! Yeah my tank is full of SPS frags and some are starting to bleach, particularly the monti caps and birdsnest.
