m dosing reef code a and b. I have finish calculations of what i should dose each day. The marine depot calculator say to dose 14 ml of alk a day and 18 ml of cal a day. Is this fine because i have heard that they have to be equal amounts

I was not doing water changes. I got my levels to where i wanted them. After three day i test and then use the marine depot alkalinity calculator and divided it by three

OK, three days is not enough time to get a good read on calcium decline given the uncertainty of calcium testing.

But whether you want to start with equal parts dosing (based on the alk decline) or the actual values you calculated doesn't really matter. Just start dosing and correct after a week or so if the values get lower or higher than you want. Keep correcting weekly or so after that, as need. DO NOT try to correct calcium dosing every one or two days. There is too much uncertainty in the test result to allow that to work well.

So test calcium after a week
