Dosing Prime to Detox Ammonia

Hi everyone,

Absolutely new to the fish community. I cycled a 40g tank, added two fish (0PPM), added three more a week later (two days ago), now the system shows ammonia at .5ppm. Cause: upped the feedings and also had 3 out of 4 snails die. Did a water change and stopped feeding to help reduce, and now want to add Prime to detox until the ammonia goes away.

My questions are in regards to the amount of Prime to add based on the label. Should I just add 4ml for the 40g or should I dose it 5x and follow the nitrate detox instructions? Can I overdose using Prime?

You cannot overdose prime. That product is amazing and will not mess up your testing like the others. Do a couple water changes to help get the ammonia down.

I use prime too. Get their ammonia test kit, not badge. And test,test,test,test,test, with patience, patience of Job

Thanks for the reply, I did a water change this morning, going to try to wait it out on another WC for a couple days. Plan to dose Prime again tomorrow until the ammonia goes away. Heck of a learning lesson this was.
