How do u balance dosing with a pump and also with water changes. I dose 2 part on on a dosing pump and trying to dial in my dosing amounts. However if I do a water change it replenishes my calcium and alkalinity to some extent.

I am using reef crystals at this point. It is a 90 gal total system. Sps dominant.

I like to run my calcium : 480
Alk: dkh 7-8
Mag 1400

Ulns via carbon dosing

Help appreciated thx

Well I have my doser set to dose all day long, my concern is when doing water changes the alk spike. The doser maintains my parameters between water changes

I would say dose as if you don't do water changes and if you are spiking a reading after a water change, then shut that dosing pump off until it comes back down.

I meant the water you use for water change manually raise the ca mg or alk to what you keep your system at

Well in regards to that I try to keep my alk around 8 ish. I'm trying out reef crystals and I looked on the forum and it's seems that people have had variable Results when mixing reef crystals. I checked my first mix and it was a all of 9. So not to bad. I just don't want to have a spike in my tank with doing a water change and dosing.

I was buying premixed saltwater from my Lfs, they changed there salt mix and it sent my alk through the roof. Bc I had no idea. Taught me a lesson.

Since then I got my own r/o system and I am mixing my own salt. So I don't have to worry about that.
