Hypothetical question if I may... leta say your tank used 150ml of alk a day. And your Alk reads 6.6. If one adds additional Alk. solution to raise alk. to say 7.5, Would the original 150ml a day keep alk stable ar 7.5 , assuming consuption remains the same?

Yeah,
Once you bring it up to 7.5 it should stay there, as long as the alk consumption remains the same.

If you going to bring up your alk. Then do it nice a slow and stay within the daily recommendations of the product that your using.

If you go over the daily recommended dose, your ions can bind together and your #'s can drop , due to precipitation.

Good call Vols, I think this happened to me. The 180 would sit at 6.6 . I wanted 7.5 . So Dr Randy's calculator suggested I think 90 mls of my brand of 2 prt . I dosed all at once & next day dropped to just over the original 6.6 .So I did again & got the same so for the net 2 weeks I was pouring the stuff into the tank. I couldn't figure out ! then I went to vacuum the sand bed & found a bunch of hardened sand.
