Hello , i am new to dosing thru a dose . I purchase a dose because sometimes i forget to dose due to work hours , i use to dose about 15 ml of 2 part , i program my dose to do alk from midnight to 10 am and calc noon to 8 ..... problem i saw is last night around 6pm alk 7.8 then today 9am 7.5 and 730 7.7 ....

I am lost now , should i move dosing just at night ? Or where should i start , i want to keep it as much stable as possible ,

Thank you in advanced

What are you using to test parameters?

You want to get the levels to your desired level, let it go and retest exactly 24 hours later. Take the change, which will be your daily consumption rate, then use BRS’s calculator to determine how much soda ash you need, and divide that by how many hours you’re dosing. I dose alk 24 hours a day to keep it stable.

If you are seeing a fall day to day, after testing at EXACTLY the same time each day, just increase the dose slightly and keep testing.

Those differences in alk measurements are not worrisome, and can even be within the error range of whatever test you're using.

There are different philosophies about when to dose.

I currently dose both components alternating in multiple small equal doses throughout the day and night. This may be subject to change with the analysis capabilities of the upcoming Trident.

I have talked to people who like to dose alk during the day when zooxanthellate corals are photosynthesizing, and calcium at night, although I haven't looked at the scientific basis for this approach.

All test red sea calcium , Alk Hanna/ red sea , currently using ME Coral Calcium and Alkalinity
