I've had a dosing setup and ready to go for a few weeks now. I have been waiting for the Calcium and or Alk to change to a point where it's time to startup the dosing rig.
For 4 days now:
Calcium has gone from 440 on the 10th to 380 as of early this morning. 4/16
Alk has gone from 8.2 to 6.5 in the same time period.
I set the dosing of Calc to 20ml x20 (409ml) in a 24 hour period equaling a little less than the BRS calc stated 563ml per day. (trying to go easy at first, then tweak it later)

Alk I set for 6ml x 20 (120ml, BRS recommended 157ml)

After just 4 dosings Calcium is 495 and Alk is <7 dKH

Question is, am I on the right track and doing this correctly? It seems if I let the doser continue, my numbers are going to be through the roof!
Thanks in advance. If I left anything out...please let me know.

I would base your dosing on your alk uptake, and adjust your dosers based on that(equal amounts of both Ca and alk). I would use this calculator, fill in the blanks for your system, and select the appropriate supplement from the drop down menu(if using BRS use Randy's recipe #1) to get your dose. This will take some trial and error to get the best amount.

Have you calibrated the doser?

Then I just test the next night.
If it's climbing, then back off the doser.
Test the next night.
Still climbing, back off etc.

You'll get the thing dialed in and then monitor for trends and you can tweak the schedule.

Thanx for the info folks....helps alot!
Naptalene: Yep calibrated and am gonna do just that, I've reset using the Calculator Downbeach suggested, will test tomorrow night.

As A side note, because near 2 months into this, and REALLY close to getting divorce papers, these last few items I recently bought I needed to go on the cheap. The doser I got is a Jaebo DP-4. I got it for just 55.00, so Over time i'll update on it's performance. I calibrated the 3 pumps i'll be using 3 times each and it was spot on every time. Kinda nice for the money so far.

What I have - it doses.... I don't need it to look like a Ferrari. I also like that you can add a slave unit.

It seems to overshoot slightly in my experience, so if you're not sure undershoot the amount a bit.

But you'll see the difference in corals with the doser :)
