Completely new to Corals, starting new thread to re focus questions:

One would need to test levels of Alk and Dhk (at least) then determine the amount to dose (?).

If dosing by hand, makes sense, when using a dosing system (like a Kamoer X1 or similar), how would you be able to program amount to dose, if you need to test daily (?). Wouldn’t it change?

When using a product like ESV 2 part, I see how you can dose different amount for each. But if using a product like Tropic Marine Carbo Calc or All For Reef, shouldn’t the amount of dosing elements be different or change? Wouldn’t using separate elements work better? But using 1 product seems easier?

Help?! As you can see I don’t know much, but would like to know more. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

To work out the daily dosage test on day 1 and then leave for say 4 days and retest. Simple division gives you the daily uptake so then you know how much to dose of each element daily either manually or with a doser.

All in one products are easier to use, but at some point the elements will become in balanced so will need correcting with individual elements

So if in balance is bound to occur, would just using separate elements all the time work better?

When in balance occurs and individual elements are required (if you are using an all in one product with a dosing system), could the individual element be added by hand?

And if using a dosing system, how often would you “re check” to see if there is a in balance that needs correcting?

Are in balance less likely to occur if using separate elements?

If you’re using 2 part, aren’t you suppose to dose the same amount for alk and cal

less likely if use sep
alk 8-10
mag1300 apprx
cal 450
optimal imo as far as testing same time of day everytime
as far as auto dosing nothing, done by eye 30yrs not changing now
happy reefing

The most accurate way to do it is use individual elements and then test weekly and adjust the amount added as needed.

In my S650 I use a Kamoer doser, test every Sunday and then just amend the daily dose if needed.

If your using an ‘all in one’ and a particular element is low, then yes you can just add that element by hand

Whatever you use, you may get imbalances that need correcting.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
