I'm not new to dosing. I dose iron and liquid CO2 in my freshwater tank but am new to dosing calcium, alkalinity and magnesium. Was wondering how often should I test and how often I should dose. What are reasonable swings in those parameters for a healthy tank and what products work best. Should I use a 2 part or dose independently. Thanks in advance. It's a softie and los tank. Got Kenya tree, gap, micromussa and hammer corals.

Test at the same time of day when you do is one of the most important aspect to dosing(small fluctuations through out the day are normal, thats why we test at the same time daily).

Test every day for a couple days to get a baseline of your daily consumption. It's best to dose in small increments, but a one time a day BOLUS hand dosing is perfectly acceptable until you get into more finicky corals.

As far as what to dose..... Thats up to personal preference.

I have used @Randy Holmes-Farley DIY 2 part recipe for close to 15 years now, so I can not speak to other dosing products. I have read good things about tropic marins all for reef. It's easy to start out with as it's just one liquid for alkalinity and calcium.
