Should these be dosed in equal amounts?
My Alk is now 2x Calc dose

They used to be close to equal but over time I have adjusted to 2:1 to maintain 8.3/420 ish

Its OK to dose whatever ratio works for you, but typically 1:1 matches calcification, and if other ratios are needed, then it is due to inappropriate recipe use, other processes that impact alk (up or down), top off with tap water, or water changes with a mix not matching the tank.

The lower the overall alk demand daily, the more likely one is to deviate from 1:1 because these other processes (such as rising nitrate, dosing nitrate, water changes, etc.) become a larger and larger fraction of the total.
