I did and noticed a big difference
Is there any risk of over dosing if your fallowing the Red Sea direction of one ml per 10 ml calcium?
That's what I think but Red Sea does say that that's the easier method and it's safe. At this point I use a 2 part b-ionic by esv. It a calcium and alkalinity in two separate bottles and difrent variety of trace elements in the two bottles. It's sounds like the same concept as dosing color by Red Sea with measuring by the calcium uptake. My main concern. And the tests for all the colors are a little more lengthy than all the regular tests. So dosing this as per your calcium usage would make me nervous and wana test every day and those tests take a while
I thought it was 1 ml per 10 ml of calcium. With what your saying makes Going with Red Sea sound more convincing.Well the chance of me overdosing is slim since my actual calcium intake in a 24 hour period is 18ppm but I round it off to 10 and based on red sea recommendation is 20ml/20 calcium i take/25 gallons.
I would rather under dose than overdose.
And yes I used aquaforest component a, b, c, bio s, pro bio s, np pro, build , mix, energy, vitality, power food, garlic oil, fish v and kalium.
Used it longer than the red sea and never noticed any difference even after following their recommended dosing regimen.

Yea there's no way of know unless you do the tests or experiment with it and see if you see any change with the recommended dose. I'm thinking of getting the Red Sea reef energy to try out and see if my corals grow faster. My issue is, I'm not sure if I need to dose these elements, or if my main issue is not enough nutrients in my system (nitrates always 0, no detectable phosphate in the water column either). So I'm tackling one thing at a time and I'm hesitant about going all out with a Red Sea colors dosing schedule
Iron can be important to a reef but not for corals, let be clear that every test on iron comes out always to 0.0.
You might think huh.......... why??
Simply cause the iron level in NSW is 0.000006 ppm, that said we really can't measure that with our home test kits.
So what your dosing is always way to much, maybe 100x the max limit of your tank volume.
Read up this article and do understand about iron.

Now dosing K and I can be important but only if you know where your numbers are.
If a chart is telling you that your levels are low, you need to ask your self how low in order to know how much you need to dose.
I bought months ago red Sea coral colors abcd. I was dosing like the representant of red Sea told to me, dosing all the supplements with the same volume, depending of demand's calcium of my system. But my coral turned dark. So I stopped of dosing and a bought the test red Sea coral colors. So I noticed that the each element's demand was completely different. But a never achieved the "ideal" iron measure. I was thinking that the demand's of my system was huge. And my coral turned back to the dark color. Now, it' seems more clear to me.
Another doubt is why the red Sea sells this iron supplement to increase de green color on the corals? If the benefit is grow the macroalgae. Is it only to reduce the nutrients in the tank?
Oh wow! What kind of lights are you using?Oh yes!!!!! My sps have never been happier. I have tried aquaforest supplements but never had success with it, with red sea everything has been positive so far.
