Just got my first dosing pump and trying to figure out my schedule for 2 part. For the alk specifically would it be better to even it out over 24 hours or ramp up a little at night to off set ph swing?

I'm dosing 220 ml each of of soda ash and calcium chloride daily in my 125. I dose them 12 times daily on an alternating hourly schedule. Calc on even hours, alk on odd. I started this regime when my consumption was much lower, and the response of my corals has always been good. My thought process is that at night, when the lights are out, my photosynthetic corals may be processing less alk anyway. So the PH buffering effects of the soda ash may increase during that time. I could be completely wrong.

Most people find alk is mostly used during the day. If alk stability is the goal, dose through the light cycle.

Exactly as AdamNC states for me as well, creates great stability in the chemistry.

I set up to dose out even amounts five times a day with 15 min between alk and ca dosings. No matter what time of day I check now I'm right around my target numbers.

I dose 5ML of Alk every 6 hours. Keeps a stable 8.4/8.5 SPS all alive and chillin'.

Then I dose Calc 30min after the Alk
