I designed a 8 pump dosing system for my new reef tank. Got it hooked up and everything is working. The problem I am running into now is the some of the items I'm dosing requires shaking bottle before use even though the bottle doesn't say to do so. I confirmed this with a phone call.
To solve this problem, I am thinking about buying a air pump and running air lines into the bottles that require shaking.
What are your thoughts?
It really needs to be worked out. I have to much time and $$$ invested in this dosing system that will be less automatic then I would like if I have to shake the bottles before scheduled dosing.

I will be dosing the full Redsea Reef Foundation. The NoPox has presented the first problem. I will discover how the other solutions perform soon.

Thanks
Omar

I don't have a solution for you, but I don't think running air into the bottles is a good idea as the ingredients will probably oxidize and slowly lose their effectiveness.

I dose all the Red Sea care program except the NoPox, with a Bubble Magus BM-T01 and the slave BMT-02 total seven pumps, results are the best, can't complain but the phosphates keep them on 0.04 and the Nitrates in 0.5 with my Skimmer from Vertex and my Gfo Reactor from TLF. It's been two years now. Judge ur self

So, you don't have to shake any of the other bottles. The Colors don't require any shaking. do you keep the solutions in the bottles they are sold in. I use the clear glass bottles and thats when I noticed the NoPox settling.

Maybe I can connect to my controller and have it blow the bubbles for 15 minutes before the dose?

I would use some nano powerhead instead of using an air pump. Although with this you would need to watch the levels in the containers more.

I don't think he could find a powerhead that would fit into the bottle openings, but that would probably be a better option.

I don't see this being a issue. If it bother you, slide your intake tubes off the bottoms of your jars or dosing containers a few inches.

After speaking to Redsea, it looks like I'll need a way to stir the NoPox or will need to shake it before I dose. I'm gonna try a few things. It takes about 1 hour for the solution to settle and need another shake. Currently, I've got it dosing at 7am so I just give it a shake at 6:55.

Sounds like a solution looking for a problem :)

Me...I would just find an alternative chemical. Too many other very effective products that don't require shaking, stiring, etc.

I remember on a planted tank forum, someone running into a similar problem. His answer was to use a couple of magnetic stirrers, like they use in a lab.

I wonder if using another dosing pump with both lines in the container that needs to be mixed and it could run for about 15 minutes before dosing the liquid to keep it moving.

You can get a IKA Topolino Magnetic Stirrer for under 80.00 about the same as a BRS Dosing pump I think. But I think you would get a better mix using the stirrer.
