Dosing without a doser?

I dont have a doser and it will probably be some time before I do. This is my Red Sea suggested daily recipe. I have been mixing the dose in about 2 cups of reef water and dumping it in atop a power head. It looks like a snow storm hit and in a few of minutes its clears up. Is this safe?

I have been dosing by hand for a while now. I will finally turn on my dosers this weekend. I get a huge PH spike everytime I dosed soda ash. It rises above 8.4. I started dosing it 3 times throughout the day. Add it slowly. Don't dump it all in at once.

So add everything except Calcium and then 15 mins later add Ca?

When you mix the alk part and the calcium part it participates and becomes cloudy. Dose all three by themselves at least 15 minutes apart.

Dose by hand VERY slowly, I found out the hard way. I was in a hurry and had screaming kids around me and dosed soda ash quickly and into my DT. Lost all my coral except 4 frags.... Doser is getting hooked up this week.

Dose everything separately. One at a time and at least 15 minutes apart. They can't be mixed into one liquid. I haven't had to dose mag yet.

You cant be mixing up CA/Alk and Mg in one thing, that will precipitate. They need to be dosed separately.

I am not surer about the others as I don't use them.

I usually learn the hard way. As I stated I just dumped it in. After every thing cleared I looked to make sure all was well. Diamond Goby was gone. After about 4 hrs. he came out. He didn't like it. Lesson learned!

Yup, just CA and ALK.

If you add two part at the same time they will just together and be unavailable for corals
