Dosing without Sump

Have a 40gal breeder mixed reef. Been dosing BRS 2 part and magnesium by hand for a while. Looking to automate things a little. Don't have a controller like Aepx,etc. Can a dosing pump be used under the stand and pumped up into the main display? Obviously I'd set the dose tubes above the water level in a high flow area, like in front of a vortech pump. Would I need to use check valves? Can the doser pump the solutions up that high (approx 48") without having any problems or losing ml accuracy? Looking at the coralbox wifi doser.

Not yet sold on coral box doser...just seemed like the best app. Looking for suggestions on dosers as well.

I’ve got the coral box. Expensive for no reason I think. Gonna go jeabo since I can slave a second pump for dosing trace
