Although I am fairly new to reef tanks. I have had my tank running since last july. I am only counting the time the tank completed the cycle. april if you count going through the cycle. I am not t familiar with dosing. is it necessary if I do a 20 gallon water change every weekend or should I be dosing?

Buy a test kit and test before and after the water change. If before the WC the parameter is fine then you won’t need to dose in a while. If it is low but the WC fixes the parameter then you don’t need to dose but you may need to soon. If after it is still low then you need to do a bigger WC or dose.
Hope this helps

What's tank size? What's daily consumption? I had my tank cycled last June. Finally found the point needing to dose just by testing and watching consumption. Just when I thought I had it nailed my consumption almost doubled so testing is important

Need more info such as tank size and the type of coral you currently have in your system.

But the best way (in my opinion) to find out if you need to dose is...buy test kits and test your tank.
