I have a 125 with 4 tangs all near 3" including naso, tomini, yellow and regal along with a small flame angel. I am wanting to add a few dottybacks. I have heard good and bad anyone's thoughts?

In my honest opinion just get a fire fish. lol dotty backs are very hit or miss

Just wanted more activity. I have one in my 50. But I do agree with w h at you say about being hit or miss. Probably best not to chance it for sure

Hit and miss as others have mentioned. I've had indigo and orchid dottybacks that were awesome fish, at one point had a neon dottyback that was the antichrist (killed the indigo and ate a cleaner ship its size.)

I have a dotty back in a 300 gallon tank. He is one of my smallest fish. But for his size, he is by far and away the most aggressive fish in the tank. The size of the tank makes his potential aggression a non issue. In a smaller tank, it could get really serious. They are beautiful fish and mine is really hardy, healthy and active.

Most dottybacks are quite aggressive, but there are some well-behaved species such as fridmani, elongatus, and coccinacauda.
