Hi all,

I am tempted to add a captive bred fridmani dottyback to my 90 reef but just want to check first how much pressure this will put on my pod population. Do these graze the rocks and glass much hunting tiny copepods? I have a Biota mandarin and already have pod competition in the form of a flame angel so don't want to heap any more pressure on the population.

Thanks

Nick

Neither the fridmani, nor the flame angel are significant pod eaters. Both would be more interested in the larger amphipods, which are not a major part of a mandarin's diet, rather than the smaller copepods, which are most of the mandarin's diet.

I will say though that a small, hungry fish will probably eat pods either way. Keep them well fed :)
