Dottyfish trap what did I do wrong

I made this trap and I put some food in it put the fish doesn’t even seem remotely interested or know it’s in there how do I get him to see the food

Id stick a mirror to the side glass. Drop a fish net close by the mirror. Make sure the handle is long enough it sticks out of the water and the net is big enough he cant escape. Wait a day or two until he thinks the net is harmless. When he goes to check his reflection, schoop him out.

I should leave the mirror there? Because all the other fish immediately lost it

don't feed the other fish while the food is in the trap. He will get hungry and go in. Might take a few days though.
I have had better luck with the drop down door type traps though.

If its not interested in the mirror, and the other fish look stressed, id take the mirror away.

Put in some sort of small awesome cave for him to sleep in. Maybe something made out of pvc - a small slice of 2" pvc with a cap and a hole in it? When he's asleep, net the whole thing. Mine is in a breeder enclosure right now, having used this method last night, waiting to take a ride to his new home at 5pm today.
