Double 40?

Can anyone point me toward a double stand (above/below) for 40 gallon breeders? Having a hard time finding one; thought they'd be more common tbh. I'd build one but I'm getting ready for a move and just don't have the time unfortunately.

This would very likely need to be custom built. Some people use metro racks but that is a disaster waiting to happen.

just make sure if you use some sort storage rack, it can support 500+lbs of weight per shelf.

The rating says 1000lbs per shelf so looks good.... I would browse online with similar search titles as to what its called on lowes.

See if you can find something similar. Sometimes its as simple as a brand name change.

Yeah they have a similar rated and same size one but it has the holes along the rails. Looks sorta bad imo. Suppose I could cover it but that one has a sleeker look if you catch my drift...

I used these in my old fish room when I was breeding Central America cichlids. Had 3 sets of doubles.
The weight is not the issue. The tanks fit perfectly and even sit tightly inside the 90 degree corners on the legs, so the lower tank reinforces the frame. If you do them out real
Plywood underneath, they come with fall a particleboard. They work but it’s easier to grab a few 2x4’s and make a rack. I have one I made for a triple stack of 40 breeders- and that worked okay in a room with a low 7’ ceiling.

If you go triple you can use the bottom one as a sump, pumping water up to the top tank, overflowing to the middle and finally overflowing to the sump.

I just looked and i did use the board that came with the shelf under the tank. No sign of swelling and it looks perfectly dry, but that is on the bottom. Probably keeps it from "racking". I don't know been 10 years.

One thing I will mention but not to scare you just as advice, the stand does sway a bit when cleaning the glass aggressively. I just keep my hand on the rim of the tank. Same thing for my other nano. Just physics.

They “Did” make one, I had it…But honestly I’d look into 30/30 Aluminum …I’d wager you could make a snazzy one for under $200 you could save $$$ by getting that 1 meter 10 pack

Oh don't let my high tech control box and hanging wires fool you, this is a ghetto tank in a corner of unfinished basement.

If you want decor, this ain't it but is is functional and inexpensive.

I'm going to look into this, thank you. I hear you @ptrusk on the wobble. It'd work but I wouldn't mind it looking a bit sleeker too (no offense). Was going to try to do it quick but I'm going to move and do the tank separately. Just going to pay for another months rent to do it slowly now. A little tough because my tools are in storage lol but I got some time
