Anybody out there have any experience with double saddle butterflies? If so post a pic and what do you feed, how often, and what do they like best. Any other tips would be helpful thanks.

They’re supposedly one of the easier butterflies to care for, pretty hardy for a butterfly according to Bob Fenner. I don’t have any experience with them but they get to 6” (one of the smaller Butterflyfish but still a 5 or 6’ tank would be ideal in the long term), are omnivores, and I don’t think they have any special requirements when it comes to feeding other than the standard feeding requirements for most of your other fish.

According to Fenner and WWM and what I’ve heard, though, if one has the space the best beginner genus of butterflies are the Bannerfish (Heniochus) though the Double Saddle is also supposedly a good, hardier choice.

My tank is 8’ long so we are good there thanks for the input. I haven’t had any butterflies before and I already ordered this one hopefully it all goes well.
