I have been trying to get a hold of dove snails for some time for my macro tanks. Found these ate a Petco and the guy gave them to me. Are these dove snails or something else?

They are small, about the size of a dwarf cerith and move fast

Those looks like nassarius to me. Dove snails or nano conchs eat algae, so you would be able to observe them eating algae on the glass. Like algae eating snails, you’ll see their tiny mouths going to work. Get a pic of the underside for clarity.

Thanks. Here's the underside and a closer top pic. They seem to prefer to hang out on live rock rather than sand. I cant tell what they are eating yet. They are not shy at all and are little speed racers whatever they are.

nassarius to me, just with cream shells as opposed to black/spotted

If they seem to prefer the rocks it’s likely they are a type of whelk other than Nassarius
