Downsizing a 50 gallon to a 10 gallon Frag

Im planning on downsizing one of my tanks. From a 50 gallon Mixed reef transferred to a small 20 gallon frag tank. I need some tips and advice from you guys as a precaution.

The current 50 gallon has a DIY sump, Dosers, protein skimmer and tons of live rock.... Now, if i were to transfer only 20 gallons of the same water into a bare bottom frag tank without the sump and live rock but maintain weekly water changes. How Will this keep up for the long run? Has any of you done this with successful results. I know there would be a bit more micro managing but what else would I need to do?

I've downsized a few times by transferring livesand and rock to a new tank. No issues here other than a minor spike.

Thanks ReefMadness and Jordan Banks. Ive never used these frag tanks before. Just concerned because its a 10 gallon and a big removal of bio filtration. I want to see if there are others that had success doin it.

Can you get away with not using sand? I find it best for frag tanks
