For those of you that took the weekend off I found some pretty bad cracks on my 80 gallon cube, so I had to order another one. The "kit" comes with a 29 gallon sump, but frankly - it's so big. It takes up the entire space of the cabinet (you can't get it out with the doors on), and will leave about 4" of play from front to back, maybe 10" of clearance up high. I'm considering downsizing the sump. The cabinet is 22" x 31", and has clearance of 30". I'm going to run a CW-50 algae scrubber, and hope to add in the future a Hydros w/ dose pump for a kalk stirrer (gravity fed return). I'm just concerned there won't be any space. Anyone I talk to has told me to NOT fill out the space below with sump. So can anyone recommend a sump or have any insight? Maybe show me your cube style setups if you aren't shy!

Will be watching. I have the same problem and need some room. Worried about a “re-cycle”.
I'm setting this tank up from scratch so it'll either start with a giant, sandwiched in sump or not. My main concern is running an algae scrubber and kalk stirrer and fitting it all under there....we'll see. I'll keep ya posted. At this point I'm gonna roll with what I got as I don't wanna pay north of 300 for a sump. I'll be hawkeye'ing the classifieds for a few days.
