I have dino i tried black out with peroxide dosing now I'm jacking the heat up with peroxide dosing. I wanna get some opinions

It takes more than peroxide to battle Dino
Blow loose with a turkey baster. It will capture and clean more surface area. Here is full program:
Prepare by starting with a water change and blow this stuff loose with a turkey baster and siphon up loose particles.
Turn lights off (at least white and run blue at 10-15%) for 5 days and at night dose 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 10 gallons for all 5nights. If you dont have light dependant coral- turn all lights off.
During the day dose 1ml of liquid bacteria (such as bacter 7) per 10 gallons.
Clean filters daily and DO NOT FEED CORAL FOODS OR ADD NOPOX as it is food for dinos.
Day 5,, you can start with blue lights - ramping up and work your white lights up slowly

I think it all depends on type of dino you have and your environment. I started to battle my dino few weeks ago with dino x and don't see any improvement beside some dead corals. $50 for nothing, they claim it kills dino but hey, no liability at all. In my case I have dino and after dosing almost whole thing dino is still present.

I read so many posts and advises, starting another thread will not help you at all I think. Too many variables to give anyone a solution. Someone on FB gave me a tutorial from reef dudes and I am going to start that program. What I can see it is something like @vetteguy53081 proposed but with more activities.

I would start from checking which dino you have. $17 microscope from Amazon is enough to see dino. Then just search this forum and read people's battle logs.
Prepare for long battle...

DinoX was a waste of money for me also

I have not used Dino-X or Red-X, I actually ordered a bottle of DinoX that's sitting in my cabinet because it resolved before it got to me via mail.

If you read fauna marines instructions they recommend a whole slew of the things. One of them being to use red-X first if your dino problem isn't extreme yet. No idea if or how that helps but red-X clams to be more gentle then DinoX.

The dinox manual also recommends a
  • 2-3 day blackout
  • 6 hour light schedule after the blackout
  • No white lights, blues only
  • Increase tempature to 83f
  • increasing nutrients if at zero levels
  • Stop dosing trace elements and aminos.
  • No water changes
  • Wet skim 24/7 and clean filter socks daily
  • And more

I stopped water changes and did daily syphoning into a 7" large 10 micron filter sock. My goal was just to keep the dinos off my corals and wait it out. Nothing else worked for me. Vibrant and NoPOX killed my SPS and peroxide worked a little with instant killing, but could not keep up with the next day reproduction rates. I didn't check the type that i had since buying a UV was not an option for me anyway. All I knew was that it was the kind that did go into the water column after lights out. Good luck!

Tonight I'm gonna stir the growing dino up and do peroxide as I don't have anything else I'll look into the red x do informational purposes still not sure the route to go

Dino X says run skimmer with full power. When I run 50% I need to drain it twice a day. My 20g ato runs out after few days. So, I am doing a water changes feeding dino anyway.
They can't even specify if I should run UV during the treatment or not. Some sources says it is ok, some says I should by my bottle of dino x says I should discontinue uv. So I don't really know...
I stopped using it because my corals were dying. I ran carbon, brand new uv bulb, did a 10% water change and boom, dino i angry as hell. whole sand bed with most of the rocks are powdered with brown stuff.

I run UV inline with return line. My flow rate is low from that line but it may be still too much for 36W jebao. I ordered 55W and will run it super slow in the sump. I don't see any reason to run with the water from the tank directly. It is the same water.
I think I will start siphoning dino daily. I have never treated my tank that well and the water is pristine, I don't even see water :) But this brown powder :/

dang I'm not that bad I'm sorry. I didn't know the dino x bottle was so vague that's crazy. Not to promising if they can't even tell you that what else are they not telling you. Plus coral is why we want these little b**t**d's gone if it's killing coral.... not cool

Stop all water changes, but keep an eye on your nitrates and phosphates.

Bring in some more bacteria strains. Bottled or from your local reef shops sand beds.

Remain patient it's a long ride, add some pods, and start dosing Algaebarn's OceanMagik phytoplankton per the instructions.

That's a different approach.

I'm behind vetteguy on this. I've been in a dino war for months. This may have been brought on by dosing NoPox for so long trying to get my nitrates under control. Turned out that I needed to raise Phos to lower nitrate, so the NoPox was a huge waste of cash anyway. I tried Dr. Tim's - nothing but dead macro.
Last week, my husband started ripping up a wood floor and kicking up dust - saw dust - everyplace. I killed my lights, covered the tank with a blanket and added an air stone. For good measure, as I had a cyano problem in my sump - I dose chemiclean. I dosed it twice - 48 hours apart, all while under complete blackout. I ran my skimmer, I topped off but did not do an actual water change.
My AI lights are now glitching, so I am running manually - all blues. I can't say how long this will last but right now, the tank looks better than it has in 6 months. My cloves have almost doubled in a week. The extension and coloration on my zoas is absolutely amazing and my shrooms are having babies.
Fingers crossed it stays this way --- at least until my long awaited tank arrives.
I think the point that I'm confirming is that sometimes we try doing too much. Just turning off the lights and letting go of my tank anxiety for 4-5 days was great for my tank... and me.
let it go GIF
