So tank is up and running and salt is exactly at 1.026. The directions tell you how but not when, and the tank cycling thread on here doesn't discuss Dr. Tim's or at least i didn't see it! lol

Thanks!

Remove filter sock turn off the skimmer. Add appropriate amount into aquarium. Let's it mix a few hours then add ammonia source. Or add ammonia source then add Dr tims. I had ammonia before Dr tims was added. I only added amount for 90g to my 120 with 40 sump. And it removed ammonia in 2 days.

What do you recommend for an ammonia source??

and somewhere in a video it talked about adding fish soon after putting dr. tims in, maybe to continue to ammonia process???

Yea I’m pretty sure you have to add an ammonia source I don’t think anything special just a ammonia source others will chime in on that

Add your bacteria now. Dr Tim's or other have an ammonia source like ammonium chloride. You use this to dose up to 2ppm of measured ammonia in the aquarium, wait for it to drop, then dose ammonia again. Once the tank can convert ammonia from 2ppm to zero within 24 hours you are pretty much cycled.

According to Dr tims. You can add the bottle let it sit for 24 hrs and add fish. I personally don't like fish in cycles. I would rather add an ammonia source and let the cycle complete first. I don't wanna rush a large water change on 150-160 gallons But one and only is made to add fish right away.

can I do dr Tim’s and ammonia source or does it have to be fish? And if fish what are the best ones to put in in the beginning?

It's not very humane to put fish in during the cycle as ammonia will burn their gills. Raw shrimp, ghost feeding, or ammonium chloride are better options.
