Hi folks,

I've set up a Reefer 250 for my other half. She's wanting to keep sea horses with a few other compatible fish.

We are using Dr Tim's one & only to cycle the tank and are looking for suggestions on what fish, other than clowns to use to cycle along with the Dr tims as . I was told a pipe Fish will be alright but not sure?

Get some Dr Tims ammonia and dose that instead.
This way you're guaranteed not kill anything and the cycle can occur in a controlled form.
Good luck.

I agree.
I would also add unless you are culturing or prepared to buy $$ pods, you would be better off waiting for the tank to establish before adding a pipe fish.

I have some here and the directions say to add 4 drops per gallon, which I believe is way too much.

Go with 1 drop per gallon as recommended in the video.

If you watch the video on YouTube and check the description. It states they updated in 2016 to the 4 drops per gal. Just noticed as I was watching the video myself ✌

It's still way too much based on my experience at the weekend, 1 drop per gallon seemed about right.
Using the US gallon, your tank will take a 66 drop dose at 1:1 ratio.
Go with that to start off with and measure your ammonia levels after it's had time to disperse to see where it is on the scale.

Yeah 4 drops seems insane. I emailed them to confirm. I said the videos etc all say 1 drop but the bottle says 2... Their reply is in the photo. Not the most professional reply, however, I stupidly went with 4 drops and cannot get the ammonia down at all.
