Hi,
Im finally getting my tank back on track after a dino outbreak from having too low nutrients for too long. In response I boosted my phos and nitrates, and started dosing vibrant and phyto. The dinos are continuing to deplete and my phos is around 0.03.
(Ph 8.15, mag 1515, ca 440, alk 10.13/3.62). However my nitrates are "too high?" They were in the 50-100 range and my angel looked a touch pale. After a 20% h20 change they are probably around 40-50 on salifert test. I cant do bigger or more frequent water changes because I dont want the dinos to come roaring back. However my LFS just got my nem in that I ordered. Should I pick up my nem or pass on it and get nitrates lower or is 40-50 okay for a nem? Can I use Dr TIms Waste Away to reduce nitrates or will that drop me into cyano territory? (Right now Im doing a dose once a week. The theory is the bacteria helps out compete the dinos?) Would dosing more be beneficial or a bad idea? Or try something else?
Thanks!
