The bottle states "May be harmful to snails and shrimp", does anyone know why exactly, just trying to ascertain whether using a half dose minimises the risk.

Appreciate feedback from anyone who has also used the product with snails and shrimp in tank.

Makes no sense does it? and wait 5 to 7 days after final dose, to add shrimps ? I have little trust for these magical bottle bacteria’s. Perhaps @taricha could test some, lol.

I can say it doesn't have quat / polyquat in it. (that was one of the products I screened for comparison).

You can culture up bacteria from all the bottled products I've ever seen in seawater (as long as you add enough food). They have bacteria.

From what I've seen, the most clear effects in most heterotroph bottles are the chemical properties of the media. In some cases, it's easy to show those have an effect on a system. Hard to show that the bacteria do something different/better than the ones already resident in your established system.

Concerns with fish or shrimp doesn't ring any bells for me, no bright ideas on that one.

I do not know why a bacterial product would have specific limitations like this.

i actually used it about a week ago for the re-fresh and waste away regimen that is suggested on their website. i have a handful of trochus and cerith snails, as well as some random ones that showed up at some point (from what i can tell, looks like a stomatella), as well as 2 scarlett skunk shrimp. from what i can tell, i didnt have any snails die. i know ive seen a countless number of the cerith and trochus, even just today, and saw the stoma within the last couple days. i did the first dose of re-fresh on the 9th, and did a total of 3 doses. so, the 9th, 11th, and 13th, then from the 15th i started the waste away.
i didnt notice anything odd happening with any invert. from what i can tell, i didnt have anything die off. for sure, i didnt have any shrimp die. i dont necessarily account for any snails because i dont have a way of telling them apart, but i dont think i can say i lost many, if any at all. also, i did the recommended doses for re-fresh. the label didnt tell me to do 1/4 or 1/2 doses at all, so that was 1 cap per 10 gallons every other day. with this product, and stuff i saw online of people doing something different, they tended to have issues, so whatever the instructions say, i would do that only. dont dose it every day, or do a dose over the recommended. obviously, my case may not be the same as yours, so take me experience as just that-my experience. i wouldnt say that you wont have any die off, but i was in the same boat, and was worried about my inverts too. i did read on the website that it is "may harm...", so i went with it, and it all turned out fine for me.

obviously, this is an old thread, but for anyone out there that had this same question (because i looked all over for actual use by someone with inverts in their tank), it did not hurt any of mine. just follow the instructions as they are written
