I am aware these fish do not get along unless one is male and the other female. My question is can I get two different ones. For example I have a male Green Mandarin Dragonette. Do I have to get a female of the exact kind or can I get a female Red Mandarin Dragonette or a female Spotted Mandarin Dragonette?

Thanks

Honestly I'm no expert but in my opinion you would probably have more luck with a red mandarin because they look very similar to the green. The spotted however is a little different in my opinion looking at the fins and what not.

I think they have to pair....the red might pair with it...I don't know. Make sure you have a large enough food source to sustain both fish!

Doesn't matter as long as you don't have two males and a good food source. If you don't have a strong food source even if there both females you'll have territory issues do to lack of prey.
