I purchased a Fijicube-15 Sump. When it came, the drain lines extended down to about 8 inches below the water line. After reading GMAC Reef's website, it said to cut the drain line to 1 inch below the waterline, which I did, and the tank is up and running. I am now thinking it may not have been the right decision for this sump. I am thinking that detritus will build up in the small chamber below the drain lines (which is next to the filter sock). My thought is that there may not be enough disturbance/flow below the drain lines to keep it stirred up so detritus can be filtered by the sock. What is everyone's thoughts?

Greetings!
I don't know if you have a full siphon on your drain but the reason for the one inch is to let the air to escape the water in the drain so that the siphon is easily established and maintained. it looks like you can get a siphon hose down into that section. if detritus is an issue you could periodically vacuum the bottom. theoretically the flow will be enough to keep the dirt suspended. your experience will determine whether to reattach a pipe extension. this would be easily done with a coupler.

My experience with sumps is the only detritus left in that area is very fine sand. The bad stuff tends to keep floating into the next section.
