Hi everyone, I've been out of the hobby for about 10 years but am getting ready to get back in. I'm going to custom order a 150g cube with an internal overflow and am wondering what the best size(s) would be to have drilled in the bottom? Also, is there a predominately popular drainage style or good threads on drainage styles? Any help is appreciated.

My thoughts on a 150 would be that 3/4" bulkheads, pipe, gate valves, unions, and other miscellaneous fittings would be cheaper than 1" and be adequate. You could save the cost difference, or apply it to better grade (schedule 80) fittings, etc. On the other hand, you can see from my build thread that I just bought the 24" Fiji 2400 gph overflows for my 150; the drains are 1.5" -- really overkill, so I'll likely reduce the plumbing. (I wanted to skim for 24" at the water surface, and plan on having messy-eating fish). My 2-cents worth, anyway. Best wishes!
