What is the proper way to draw fresh air into an aquarium? (Northern State)

1. For nano bubbles.
2. For skimmer

Ideas, diagrams?

Well youd have to keep your house windows open all the time for minimal gas exchange, but id run a tube outside from my skimmer air intake.

Run your air inlet to it outside. I did this but the line was to small so it restricted airflow. Have been thinking of using larger tubing and trying again since I already have a hole in the side of the house. Hid it behind the siding so it wouldn't suck rain water in.

+1'

Are spiders a Concern? How do you keep them out?
Haha oh god, good question. Funny you asked as last week i had spider/fly paste smashed down in the foam on my silencer. It does restrict flow, but if you have a very large skimmer it wouldnt make a difference other then giving your tank fresh 02.

Some say it will enhance skimmer performance. But im in the process of trying it to build a container to prevent stuff getting in. Ive seen on the internet a while back were someone ran a tube to a large container with carbon and fine netting, and then out the window. Because his sump was in his garadge, he was skeptical of getting toxins in his tank.

If you have a problem with not getting enough air you can connect a little cheap air pump to the skimmer line outside

Just concerned with getting enough good air. Every time we have a big family gathering PH drops like a rock.

I'd run a tube to my crawl space but I'm afraid I'll pull radon into the living space or something else.

Yeah I have the same problem but if you run a line from your protein skimmer outside and put a little cheap air pump on it it will stabilize the ph that's what I did. If the line from the protein skimmer outside is less than 3 to 4 feet it should be alright without the pump.the intake from the skimmer should be enough to draw in the air at that length

I ran some tubing through the wall to the covered porch from my skimmer intake. To keep bugs and such out I just plastered around the tubing. It keeps critters out and holds the tubing in place. My pH is now very stable going from 8.0 at night to 8.2 during the day. Best thing I have done for my tank in a while.

It seems like a no brainier, stop inviting family over.
Is your Ph falling due to increase in CO2? Or is something else doing this?
Isn't a bug or moth in the sump more protein for the sump?
Bugs??? Try keeping dog hair out of everything.
