Hi Fellow Reefers.
I've been a member for a while now but its only been recently that I've started appreciating the vast depth of knowledge that this forum has.
My past reefing experience is as follows.....
I started with a trigon 190, no sump, just a couple of externals and i fitted a tunze skimmer where the built in filter used to be. I can't remember much more about this tank, but here is a small pick of it.
I then upgrade this to a Betta lifespace, which was sumped and came with a metal halide and a built in fan unit.
as well as this i had a little nano in the kitchen that had two purple banded pipe fish and some blood shrimp as well as a little nem with sexy shrimp....no pics of that I'm afraid.
Then for some reason I (the wife) decided it was all too much hassle so i sold it all.
4 years later and the wife says to me....i think we should get another tank. HAPPY DAYS!!!!!!
So the journey started again....and to be honest i may as well have been starting from the beginning again. All the equipment had changed...news ways of keeping things had come into play....and everything i thought i knew was wrong, or, i knew next to ........ all.
So I started trawling the net to find some decent forums...bored the living daylights out of the guys at my LFS and started measuring up for the new tank...got a few companies to give me some quotes for a custom build and then just when i was about to order...my LFS had some shiny new RedSea Reefers on display and that was it, decision made. I was about to be a new owner of a Reefer 250.....
But then i heard the sweetest words ever to leave the lips of my beloved wife...."If you want to get the bigger one...then get it." OMG!!!!! I must have been an absolute god the night before

As quick as a flash i sped home...got out tape measure....sped back to LFS and handed over the card and that was that...now the (to be) owner of a Reefer 350.
due to this i had to pretty much upgrade everything i decided to get for the 250 and the list was as follows.
skimmer Deltec SC 1455
return from sump Decod DC 100w
Maxspect gyre for DT flow
lighting, which was maxspect razor 1600w now upgraded to sanrise 90's
two bubble magus rectors. large one runs phos media and the smaller I'm running carbon.
and a small clip on LED light for cheato.
I have got rid of the useless topup tank and plan on using this for when i get a dosser.
I decided to go for a 70% 30% mix of dry rock and LR ( should have gone full LR but thats another story)
I got myself a 7 stage RO unit for free, all that was needed was a good clean and replace all the filters and DI resin....a 250l storage butt and a 150l for salt mixes.
and that is basically the start of this adventure. I'm a few months in now and have not had a smooth ride so far, but i will put everything down for people to read
